    That was an excellent episode! One challenge with natural supplements today is the lack of knowledge and research. It's easy to get caught up in misleading trends, which can be discouraging if the experience is negative. I've been searching for a natural supplement to boost my low testosterone levels and libido, and the plethora of Tongkat Ali brands on the market is overwhelming. However, after a year of using Standardized Hot Water Root Extract Tongkat Ali, I can confidently say it's the most effective and potent type available.     I loved listening to this podcast and I love Karen and her ethos. I am fed up with people and companies demonising certain foods. I am also a fan of Vanessa Kimbell of the ‘Soughdough school’ who has a similar ethos. Thank you Ruby for having such interesting guests and raising these kind of issues. I have always soaked nuts, seeds, rice, lentils etc before eating. I learned many years ago that it is much better for our digestive systems.

    Vitamins aren’t in breads because they’re cooked through. Majority of people believe their food comes from a supermarket. Have no idea where food comes from. High protein diet does not cause colon cancer, SADiet causes majority of all disease. Great episode, but I feel 72% is factual. She is selling her beliefs.

    Ok really? Grains were for the slaves. Nutrition? Really. Yes fermenting foods make them better. Though this misleading. Yes the industry is only interested in profit. How food is grown if filled with roundup and gmo Sourcing the right grains is its own maze. She is right that people are malnourished!! Yes they have got problems. If this is true, the first thing that needs to happen this to heal and seal the gut will not do that grains are inflammatory less so when fermented, but the most highly nutritionally dense food or meats there is more vitamin B in liver than a a truck load of bread. . The gut makes vitamin B. if the person is already having an unhealthy gut, they are not able to process the vitamin B in the bread. Carbohydrates, which is what bread is will create fog so I can’t imagine how the bread is really going to help heal and seal the gut. Makes me scream when more information to confuse the public is released. It is so hard to get the proper knowledge. She is right the food is killing us. ALL HIGHLY PROCESSED FOODS are not food. It has become like a maze to Access good clean food and the way to health is we must ferment our food and find good source of grass fed and finished meats and raw milk and kefir. Never going to come from a pill. The body needs a source that is bioavailable.

    I per-chanced upon this podcast.. Thank you. I immediately took out some almonds for soaking... will roast them tomorrow.. I eat loads of nuts in their raw state.. will monitor what happens with the soak. Did I miss Karen picking up the bread and showing the texture? Or tasting it? In my opinion - you need to demonstrate how delicious it is if you want people to try the recipe. I'm all for "food as medicine" as advocated by many other renowned podcast/doctors and follow the principles thereof. However, it's vital for the food to be more than palatable it needs to be more-ish not just Irish 😂😂

    In a recent randomized control trial, the AIP diet was shown to drastically reduce IBD symptoms in over 50% of participants. It is not so much about eating food which is good for you, but about NOT eating food which is bad for you - esp. if you have an autoimmune disease. From 4000BC to 1700AD we did not have modern drugs, pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers, etc.. If people got a stomach ache, headache or other issues they could not just take a tablet. Why was grain fermented? They knew nothing about nutrients, etc. It was fermented because then it did not cause some people to get stomach ache, bloating, etc. Go to a remote Mediterranean village and look at the way a very old grandma prepares the food. She will peel and de-seed cucumbers, de-seed tomatoes, make fermented bread, pickle caper stems, etc. - why? because that was how her grandmother did it. Why? because hundreds of generations ago they knew these things prevented gut and health issues. Modern bread is by far the worst culprit. Our bodies were NOT designed to eat grains (grains evolved to prevent them from being eaten)! That is why we found we needed to ferment them because cooking alone was not sufficient. Even cows get sick if more than 50% of their feed is wheat grain.
